Concert of the group "Trispann", Riga,
18 May 2003

At May 18, 2003, within the festival Rīga music, in the Small Guild a Norwegian group Trispann performed.

The group has an unusual structure - a man singer (Aasmund Nordstoga), a woman singer (Linn Korssjoen) and a musician (Asmund Reistad), which plays guitar, mandola and contrabass. Unfortunately, those instruments are not Norwegian traditional ones, and the singers sing in choral, instead of traditional, manner. Sounds well, as the level of the musical performance is high - the singers performs freely, with improvisations, and has nice voices.

The repertoir of the concert was rather wide: from folk songs (comic, Christmas and dancing songs, lullabies) up to psalms, Blues of love and "an absolutely new song on mandola", which Reistad has composed in hotel at night before the concert. On one number the singers has turned into dancers, and, that's true, they has danced very good, with beautiful improvisations.

In spite of the fact that in Latvia such groups (two choristers + guitar player) are not considered as folklore performers and participation of the ensemble in this festival seems unreasonable, the qualitative musical performance and the cheerful, playful behaviour of Nordstoga gave pleasure to listeners.
