Description: Folklore group Trejupe has grown from Bauska 2'nd secondary school's children's folklore group Urdziņa - first participants of adults group were mums and grandmothers of the children participants. The ensemble for the first time has performed in front of public in October 1990, when in Bauska, after long years of repair, the Folk house was reopened. During the ceremony the group acted as congratulators - and as chaff-singers. This day was in a way fatal to us, we got a roof over our head and were offered to become a collective of the Folk house.
After long philological researches, we have chosen the name Trejupe, as Bauska is embraced by three rivers - Musa, Memele and Lielupe.
In our repertoir are basically songs which have been written down in Bauska district and Zemgalia. Themselves we have recorded some narrators too. With pleasure we perform also songs from other regions of Latvia and romances.
Women act in various Zemgalian costumes, and in some Vidzeme costumes. Men have different costumes too.
In summers we give concerts to groups of tourists. Together with them we sing, we play roundelays. We participate in the Baltica festivals, in Lithuanian folklore festivals of Pakruojis district, we act on charity arrangements and evenings of pensioners, on calendar holidays.
