Description: The folklore ensemble Artava was formed in the autumn of 1991.
I worked in Ogre culture house as the seamstress, and I came to thought
to assemble the singers around it. So on October 10 we met
together for the first time. We sung, talked and decided not to break up.
We, besides, were supported by management of the culture house.
There was no problem with the repertoire - we had a great variety of
calendar rites, household rites - all a human needs during his lifetime and on
it's termination. And also we sing hits and songs for soul.
Our flag was created to festival Baltica-94. On it is displayed chest with
dowry - balls of our songs, wound in current lifes. It is so complete that the
balls rolls out.
We give concerts frequently. We are participated in Baltica 1994 and 1997.
We celebrate calendar holidays: Martinmas, Shrovetide, Christmas and others. We
participate in holidays of the handicraftsmen in Ogre district and outside it.
