Description: Zūriņ was founded in 1993 at Zuras agricultural
school under direction of teacher Austra Čepeļevska to perform songs, dance
games and dances which have been written down in Zuras area, and to search new.
In 1996 Zuras agricultural school was closed, but the ensemble did not want
to stop its existence, although at first there was not neither place for
rehearsals nor a constant sponsor. Eventually the collective has sheltered by
the parish council. Since 1997 the ensemble is lead by Anda Fišere.
Zūriņ has participated in festivals Pulkā eimu, pulkā teku since
1994, in festivals Baltica-94, Baltica-97 in Latvia and Baltica-95
in Estonia. The ensemble actively participates in measures of calendar holidays
in Varve and nearby parishes and also in Ventspils town.
