Description: 10 August 1990 in Kraukli under the initiative of
Zinaīda Sukure-Dekšņa, a TV director, a collective of the Latvian Foundation
of Culture Krauklēnieši was founded. It consists of a historical, weaver's and
folklore groups. The folklore group is supervised by Maija Poiša helped by Dace
Koļesņikova.
Since 1992 the folklore group is managed by the assistant of the Latvian
folklore depository Baiba Putniņa. During the recent years the group is
basically interpreting the folklore of Kraukli and Cesvaine area from mouths
of the old-timers, and from recordings of folklore expeditions. Programs are
created for John's day, for Cristmas, Shrovetide, Easter; soldier songs and
funeral songs programs have also been prepared.
Krauklēnieši have participated in three Baltica festivals in Riga,
performed in Madona district and outside it - in Riga, Barta, Jaunlaicene,
Salacgriva.
